Tips to Keep Your Home Cozy

When it starts to get cooler outside, we end up spending a lot more time indoors. This winter, you’ll want to make sure that your home is comfortable, cozy and ready to keep you feeling warm all winter long! So, here are a few tips to make sure you can make the most of your winter nest!

Use Warm Colors

Including warm colors in your home can help you to feel warmer when the temperature starts to drop outside. Reds, oranges, and yellows can help to bring a little sunshine in and give you a sense of warmth when the weather outside is frigid! This doesn’t mean that you have to redecorate your entire home to prepare for winter. You can simply add a few warm touches like throw pillows, warm-colored blankets, and other accents. Include these colors in your home in any way that you can. Your mind will drift to memories of sunlight and warmth, even if it might be snowing outside!

Pay Attention To Your Floors

There are few things worse than hopping out of bed in the morning only to land on a freezing cold floor! If you have hardwood floors, consider getting a few throw rugs to put in important spots, like by your bed, in the bathroom and next to the coach! If you have carpet, you will want to make sure it’s extra soft and cozy to help keep your feet warm! If you don’t already have carpet, you can easily install it in the rooms that you want to make sure are extra warm and insulated.

Open the Shades

In order to give your home a warmer feel in the winter, let in the sunlight whenever possible! Many of us tend to keep our homes shut off in the wintertime. The doors stay closed and the curtains drawn in order to keep the heat in, but you can keep the heat in while letting in the warming sunlight at the same time. Make sure your windows are well insulated so that you can open up the curtains and let in both natural light and natural warmth-whenever possible!

Stock Up on Pillows and Blankets

Add a few throw pillows to your couch and toss a blanket or two on your favorite chair. Not only will your home seem more inviting and comfortable, but it will also beckon you to curl up and snuggle when it’s too cold to leave the house.

There is no better time to turn on the oven and baking something delicious than in the cold winter months. You’ll send waves of fresh, delicious smells throughout your home and add a little extra heat when it’s needed most!

Use Candles

Candles are an excellent way to add both warm scents and warm tones to your home. Scents like cinnamon, other spices, and seasonal fruits will add a touch of coziness to the air while also providing a little warmth and warming colors to make your home the perfect winter next!
